instant42（藝樂肆貳行）由台灣藝術家葉育君與法國藝術家 Alexis Mailles 共同發起，成立於 2013 年。從一個自宅空間開始，嘗試將「居住」與「藝術創作」結合，提出「家即藝術空間」的實驗，期望建立一個以藝術為核心、如同家一般的交流平台，培養藝術家與參與者之間長期而深厚的關係。透過多元藝術行動，探索藝術如何真正進入日常，並促進人與土地的連結，以及身體、心靈與生活狀態的整合。
「42」取自第一個空間位於蘆洲的門牌號碼，同時呼應道格拉斯．亞當斯（Douglas Adams）《銀河便車指南》（The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy）中「42」作為「生命、宇宙，以及萬事萬物終極答案」的象徵；而 Instant 則代表「即時、瞬間」，象徵以藝術回應當下，在變動的時代中持續實驗、提問與創造。
從 2013 年的新北蘆洲、2016 年遷移至關渡，到 2017 年回到彰化成立 instant42 3.0，instant42 逐步從當代藝術空間發展為結合藝術展演、藝術祭、教育推廣、社區營造、國際交流、身體實踐與地方文化行動的複合型藝術平台。
instant42 相信，藝術不只存在於作品與展覽之中，而是在空間、生活、人與土地的關係中持續生成。透過策展、工作坊、藝術家交流、社區合作與地方行動，探索藝術如何連結人與人、人與土地、人與自然，並創造共同學習、共同生活與共同創造的可能。
自 2019 年起，instant42 與彰化在地青年共同發起「卦山力藝術祭」，持續推動地方藝術平台、身體與土地工作坊等計畫。近年更結合地方文化、民俗信仰、身體實踐與當代藝術，發展跨域藝術行動，探索藝術與地方共生的新模式，並以藝術作為連結土地、凝聚社群與回應當代生活的重要力量。

instant42
instant42 is an independent art platform co-founded in 2013 by Taiwanese artist Ye Yu-Jun and French artist Alexis Mailles. Beginning as a home-based art space, it emerged from an experiment that merged everyday living with artistic practice, proposing the idea of "home as an art space." From its inception, instant42 has sought to cultivate a welcoming environment where art serves as the foundation for long-term dialogue, exchange, and meaningful relationships among artists, collaborators, and participants. Through diverse artistic practices, it explores how art can become an integral part of everyday life while fostering connections between people, place, body, mind, and lived experience.
The name "42" comes from the street number of its first space in Luzhou, New Taipei City, while also referencing Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, in which the number 42 symbolizes "the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything." The word "Instant" signifies immediacy and the present moment, reflecting the platform's commitment to responding to contemporary realities through artistic experimentation, inquiry, and creation.
From its first space in Luzhou (2013), to Guandu (2016), and finally its relocation to Changhua in 2017 as instant42 3.0, the platform has gradually evolved from a contemporary art space into an interdisciplinary arts organization integrating exhibitions, art festivals, educational programs, community engagement, international exchange, embodied practices, and place-based cultural initiatives.
instant42 believes that art exists not only within artworks or exhibitions, but also in the relationships between people, space, everyday life, and the land. Through curatorial projects, workshops, artist exchanges, community collaborations, and local initiatives, it investigates how artistic practice can strengthen connections between people, place, and nature while creating opportunities for collective learning, shared living, and collaborative creation.
Since 2019, instant42 has collaborated with young people in Changhua to initiate the Baguashan Power Art Festival, an ongoing platform dedicated to place-based artistic practice, community engagement, and workshops exploring the relationship between the body and the land. In recent years, the platform has further expanded its interdisciplinary approach by bringing together local culture, folk traditions, religious practices, embodied methodologies, and contemporary art. Through these cross-disciplinary initiatives, instant42 continues to explore new models of coexistence between art and local communities, positioning artistic practice as a vital force for connecting people with the land, strengthening communities, and responding to the complexities of contemporary life.
